Her lips thin into a small line and she nods slightly. She can't blame him for not tempting fate, or the universe, or whatever else might be out there pulling everyone's strings.
"You sound like Steve," she says, smiling faintly at him before sitting up a little straighter. "Must be an old person thing." She gives him a crooked grin and then glances around the room. Her eyes fall on a stack of boardgames shoved into one of the bookshelves.
"If you're tired of catching up on your reading, I could be persuaded to play a game for the right stakes."
